The Mine Run Campaign of November 1863

Trying to follow up  after successes  at Bristoe Station and Rappahanock Station, Union General George Meade pursues Robert E. Lee south of the Rappahanock river to try and destroy Lee’s army. Lee will form his army into a strong defensive position at Mine Run that convinces Meade of the futility to attack Lee and rests his army for the winter.  Paynes Farm is the major engagement of the campaign.
