The Shenandoah Valley Campaign of 1864

After the Battle of Cold Harbor in June of 1864, Confederate General Robert E. Lee will dispatch General Jubal A. Early and the famous 2nd Corps of the late Stonewall Jackson, to the Shenandoah Valley to put an end to the destruction caused by Union General David Hunter. Early chases Hunter out of the valley and launches a final invasion on northern soil. His army withdraws from the outskirts of Washington D.C. and re-crosses into Virginia. Union General Phillip Sheridan will engage Early in hotly contested battles that will eventually force Early out of the valley for good.
